Description:
Organized as a parallel session of the ISMIR conference, the Future of MIR workshop - f(MIR) - is solely organized by students.
Following the success of our inaugural session at ISMIR 2009, we are proud to announce the 2nd annual session of the f(MIR) workshop! Our main goal is to identify and discuss areas of Music Information Retrieval research that will be prominent in future years. Assuming current problems will be solved, what will we do next? For what reasons will we be focusing on these issues? How will we transition from our present course to these new research topics? Clearly this is a a very ambitious research proposal! You can find examples at http://www.columbia.edu/~tb2332/fmir2010/.
Music Information Retrieval currently encompasses a wide body of research. Our aim is to bring into focus those topics of Music Information Retrieval that are not in the spotlight, which may potentially be represented in future ISMIR conferences. While interested in the topics suggested in the ISMIR call for papers (http://ismir2010.ismir.net/call-for-papers), we are also interested in topics generally presented at conferences such as ICMC, DAFX, NIME, JCDL, and ICASSP, as many recent papers in these conferences share interests and methods with our field.
